When a house is not lived in full time, and you’re in a country where professional gardeners are a rare breed (Swedes do it all by themselves), and the people living in it is in another part of the world…and one particular person focuses all her time on interiors….then some areas of the yard sadly get ignored!!
Did you know weeds grow larger than YOU???
Did your garden ever look like this?
Didn’t think so!
This is supposed to be the path from the pool house down to the lake.
And how do you like the pool house…can you see it?
The yard had taken over….
I had enough!
My mother spearheaded the “ATTACK OF THE WEEDS” effort. She fixed all the flower beds and trees. Then we decided to attack the pool house area filled with stinging nettles and weeds the height if me (I’m 5’9)!
With my mother around no weed was safe!!
My brother came over and helped out. My dad kindly cuts the lawn every week which is a 4 hour job. (TACK PAPPA!)
As always things here become a family affair….
When you pull up a mountain of weed and cut tons of branches, then the only way to get rid of it is to burn it. Something I would never dare without my dad being here!! (That’s the midsummer tree cross against the barn)
But we made some head way… this area got attacked…
I had no idea what a great work out it is to yank out weeds the size of yourself!!
Now we can see the fence!!!
After weed pulling Evelina, Peter’s girlfriend, cut down the grass.
More raking…
This is the progress so far. It’s not done yet, but it’s on it’s way….and at least we have a path!!
Hurray! Next step will be adding a stone path. But this is after days of weeding!
And it went from this…
A mountain of weeds…
…to this. Not done yet but we can see the lake!!! We temporarily laid out the old pool deck wood panels. Can’t wait to make this area pretty.
A new stone deck was added last summer to the pool, so things are slowly shaping up! Slowly.
Have you done work in your yard this summer?
